Authorship & Acknowledgements
This exhibit was compiled and authored by Anthony Willins, an undergraduate student of English Literature at Gonzaga University and 2020 Morris Fellow.
The completion of my research over this last summer was by no means possible without the excellent support of many individuals I am thankful to have had involved. First and foremost, my project would not exist without the generous support of the Morris family and their financial support of the Morris Fellowship through which I conducted this research project. For their fostering of my own academic growth and the work of many others, I am extremely grateful.
I would like to thank Dr. Brian Cooney, my faculty advisor for this research project for his help and guidance—providing support with both the research project and navigating a difficult and unprecedented time. The creation of the digital exhibit using Omeka.net would not have been possible without the help of Dr. Katey Roden who granted me access to the university’s web-recourse and established the site domain. Additionally, without the encouragement of Dr. Cooney and Dr. Roden, I would not have taken on this summer project.
I am grateful for the work done by Dr. Matthew Cremeens who’s support and leadership directing the Morris Fellowship summer program made this project possible. I would also like to thank the cohort of other student researchers whose fellowship provided much needed emotional support during meetings.
For making allowing my project to continue, even with the closures of initially selected archives, I acknowledge the Spokesman-Review, accessed through the database Newspapers.com from which many of the elements in the final exhibit are drawn. I also wish to express gratitude to Barbara Ringer, a leading architect of the US Copyright act of 1976 as a result of which—under the fair use doctrine—my legal right to use of the elements showcased in my exhibit is ensured.
